STAFFORD’S Sarah Williams is fast stitching herself a career in fashion after her work was selected to showcase at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week next month.
Her label Saralli Designs, was chosen to create an exclusive range of jewellery for another local fashion brand Terri Donna’s fashion week swim/resort show.

Family hit hard by floods will get free family portraits

Goodna’s Mujawar family is still battling to bring life back to normal after half their house was flooded in January.

They still don't have a kitchen and they are still waiting to hear from their insurers.

So while they pick up the pieces, Quest Community Newspapers is hoping to make their world just that little bit brighter by offering to take a family portrait free of charge.

Two charged in $1.68million drug haul

TWO men have been charged as part of a $1.68million drug haul in Mount Glorious.
Police made the arrests as part of a six month operation which targeted commercial cannabis production within the Mount Glorious State Forest.
During the operation, code-named Operation Chazz, detectives from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch and detectives from the State Drug Squad conducted extensive searches and discovered numerous growing crop sites with cannabis plants ranging from seedlings to fully mature plants.
In total police seized 560 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $1.68 million.

Canberra's retailers and restaurants will get a boost from the capital's stay-at-homers over the Easter break but the five-day weekend is still expected to be tough for the sectors.

ACT Chamber of Commerce chief executive Chris Peters says the combined Easter and Anzac Day holiday, April 22 to April 26, will be difficult for retailers who are already doing it tough.

Teen, 16, charged with armed hold-up of Berala Hotel

A 16-year-old has been charged over the armed robbery of Berala hotel last night.

About 6.30pm, the teen, armed with a shortened firearm and wearing a balaclava, entered the betting section of the hotel on Woodburn Rd, demanded cash from two bar staff and ordered patrons to lie on the floor.

The teen left the hotel empty-handed and fled through the hotel’s car park, jumping a fence onto adjacent railway tracks.

Christmas Island riot probe

Commonwealth Ombudsman Allan Asher will investigate whether police and immigration contractors used too much force when responding to protests on Christmas Island last month.
