Two charged in $1.68million drug haul

TWO men have been charged as part of a $1.68million drug haul in Mount Glorious.
Police made the arrests as part of a six month operation which targeted commercial cannabis production within the Mount Glorious State Forest.
During the operation, code-named Operation Chazz, detectives from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch and detectives from the State Drug Squad conducted extensive searches and discovered numerous growing crop sites with cannabis plants ranging from seedlings to fully mature plants.
In total police seized 560 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $1.68 million.
Detective Sergeant Michael Manago from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigations Branch said the operation reflected the commitment of the Queensland Police Service in dismantling commercial cannabis production networks across the state.
"This result should serve as a warning to criminals that police will not tolerate the manufacture, supply or use of illicit drugs," Detective Sergeant Manago said.
"The detectives involved in this operation should be proud. Countless lives would have been affected by this seizure had it reached the streets of Queensland."
A 47-year-old Blackall man has been charged with one count each of producing a dangerous drug and possession of anything used in the commission of a crime. He is due to appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on May 3.
A 59-year-old Blackall man has also been charged with one count each of producing a dangerous drug and possession of anything used in the commission of a crime. He is due to appear the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on May 12.
Both men were charged by police on April 12.
