Developments may tread water

YEERONGPILLY: A number of key government developments may be stalled as stakeholders deal with the aftermath of widespread flooding in the city’s inner-south.
The Yeerongpilly transit oriented development (TOD) is one such project which could experience significant delays.
A spokesman from the Department of Infrastructure and Planning told City South News that the project team had not yet decided if development would kick off in mid 2011 as planned.
``With all of the other flood clean up efforts it’s not something we’ve been able to work out yet,’’ the spokesman said.
The Yeerongpilly TOD site is situated on 14 hectares of land alongside the Brisbane River, adjoining the Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennyson Reach development to the west.
Chris Sandford, a Yeerongpilly TOD community group member, said he hoped the flooding would encourage stronger community consultation by the developers and government agencies responsible for the project.
``Sadly, it takes a major disaster like the current flood to get attention and action,’’ Mr Sandford said.
