A PROGRAM designed to help women recover from breast cancer surgery will be held at Bankstown in February.
The YWCA Encore program uses floor and hydrotherapy exercises to help relieve discomfort associated with breast cancer surgery and treatment.
The program’s southwest Sydney co-ordinator Kate Guthrey said it was a stepping stone for women to improve their health and general well-being.
Exercise is only one component of the program, with an hour dedicated to relaxation, information sharing and support. She said the eight-week program received positive feedback and the women bonded.
Diane Albrecht, of Picnic Point, who took part in the program late last year, recommended others try it.
“It was a lovely environment where you feel free to discuss everything,” she said.
The Encore program will run from February 10 to March 31 from 6.30pm.
