Raiders game sold out

The Canberra Raiders' semi-finals clash with the Wests Tigers on Friday night is sold out with more than 27,000 fans ready to make Canberra Stadium a green fortress.

A record crowd of 27,500 is expected to pour through the gates after the last 2000 standing-room tickets were snapped up this afternoon.

It will be the biggest crowd for a Raiders game in the capital since Mal Meninga's last game in 1994 attracted 25,253.

The Raiders have attracted 20,000 fans just once this season, when they beat minor premiers the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner said the support for the team had reached unprecedented levels.

"This just proves that we have one of the best supporter bases in the NRL and we thank everyone for making sure they got in early and got tickets," Furner said. "Hopefully we can get as many people who come to the game to join the Raiders as members next season and make events like this happen on a regular basis."
