Krisit McDougall murder accused in hospital

A man charged with murdering Carlingford mother Kristi McDougall was taken to hospital before he could appear in court.

Robert Best, 48, was arrested yesterday (August 17) and was due to appear in Parramatta Court today.

However, a court officer told reporters Best had suffered chest pains and had been taken to Westmead Hospital for observation.

He is expected to appear in the court tomorrow.

A woman charged with being an accessary after the fact of Ms McDougall’s alleged murder appeared in the court today.

Debbra Hogden, 42, was granted conditional bail.

Ms McDougall, 31, was last seen by friends in Park Rd, Homebush, about 1pm on June 19.

The mother of one was reported missing on June 21.

A torso which police believe is part of her remains was found at Nurragingy Reserve in Knox Rd, Doonside, last week.

Magistrate Jennifer Betts said she understood why the police prosecutor had agreed to conditional bail for Hogden.

``The prosecution has conceded and I can see why after reading the facts,’’ she told the court.

``You are facing very serious allegations.’‘

Hogden must report daily to Eastwood Police Station and make no attempt to contact Best.

She must not apply for a passport and has been ordered not to approach any port of international departure.
