Mitchelton Action Group outraged at council mail-out

Mitchelton Action Group outraged at council mail-out

ISSUES: MAG chairman Paul Poulus says residents still have a number of concerns about the draft Mitchelton Neighbourhood Plan.

DEBATE over the Mitchelton Neighbourhood Plan has boiled over again with Mitchelton Action Group (MAG) claiming it has been misrepresented in Brisbane City Council’s most recent dialogue with residents.

MAG chairman Paul Poulus said council’s letter, dated March 5, stated the community group had supported the revised plan with the exception of the proposed affordable housing project in Blackwood St.

But Mr Poulus said an official response had been sent to council on March 3 outlining six other issues.

These included reducing building height regulations for high density housing to two storeys in Osborne Rd between Northmore and Sussex streets; Sussex St and Ruby Rd; and on land in McConaghy St.

``How can council say that there was only one issue in debate?’’ Mr Poulus said.

Councillor Andrew Wines (Enoggera) said the revised plan would be released for consultation in the first week of April and changes would be made to the plan.

``There’s a process and we’re following that process,’’ Cr Wines said.
