Firm focus on Hills during Seniors Week

Firm focus on Hills during Seniors Week

NEXT week is the time to make extra sure you respect your elders, with Hills Shire Council offering a range of activities for Seniors Week.

Held from March 21-28, Mayor Peter Dimbrowsky said the number of participants in the Hills grows each year.

“Nearly one in five people in the Sydney Hills is over the age of 55 and it is important that we celebrate the valuable contribution that seniors make in our community,” Cr Dimbrowsky said.

A photography display of Hills seniors will be on show electronically at council’s customer services centres.

Residents are encouraged to send in photos of people over 55 years being active, social and interactive with family and friends in the work place or in the community.

Images can be sent to or hard copies can be brought into council’s customer service centre on 129 Showground Rd, Castle Hill, addressed to Bronwyn Whichello in community services.

Seniors with a love of art or just keen to experience something new will enjoy the Art for All Ages Workshops.

The workshop runs between 2pm and 4.30pm on March 22 at Wisemans Ferry Community Centre and will specialise in watercolour painting and lino-cut printing techniques.

The week will end with the Grand Family Fun Day on March 28 at MacKillop Drive Reserve in Baulkham Hills.

There will be a barbecue and catching, balancing and juggling games from all around the world.

Seniors can also learn to sing songs in different languages at the free workshops with the Harmony Day Choir.
