Want to help the clean up?


THEIR houses are soaked, they're tired and stressed, but many Brisbane residents are already asking "what can I do to help?"

While volunteers are no longer needed at sandbagging stations, Premier Anna Bligh and Lord Mayor Campbell Newman are urging the community to help those around them.

Those wanting to assist with the flood recovery can do so via the methods outlined below.



VOLUNTEER
To register your services with Volunteering Queensland: 07 3002 7600 or www.volunteeringqld.org.au.
Police say this is the preferred way to volunteer services. They ask that you do not turn up at evacuation centres looking to help.

HEAVY VEHICLES
You can also offer help via . The Brisbane City Council is seeking dump truck drivers to assist with the clean up.

Donate to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal: 1800 219 028 or telethon.smartservice.qld.gov.au/.

Donations can also be made in person at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank, NAB, Westpac, ANZ, BOQ, Suncorp, St.George Bank or BankSA, or at Coles supermarkets.

Please note: The Red Cross wishes to advise people that Evacuation Centres are not equipped to accept donations of goods. If you wish to make a contribution to the recovery effort, they ask that you make a financial donation through one of the many options currently available.
