HER ART works are the centre of admiration all over town - but community artist Danielle Rawnsley-Galistan said her best works are the ones you cannot see from the streets.

Ms Rawnsley-Galistan last week unveiled three new murals at Seven Hills West Primary.

While still following her Australiana theme all three murals showcase a very different - somewhat softer - side to Ms Rawnsley-Galistan’s artistic talent.

The artist was recently awarded the Blacktown Advocate Community Contribution of the Year.

Her works are one of several which have taken pride of place at schools across the Blacktown district.

``I’ve kept a lot of my best works for the schools and these three pieces are kind of unique - I spent quite a bit of time playing around with them, and I’m really happy with how they’ve turned out,’’ she said.

School principal Deb Bleakley is also pretty stoked with the finished result.

She says the the school plans to commission the artist to complete a couple more projects in 2011.

``It was just amazing to see the number of children who gathered around Danielle during lunch just to watch her paint,’’ Ms Bleakley said.

``I like to think the school takes creative arts quite seriously and I think a lot of the students have been inspired by what she’s done.’‘

2011 is shaping up to be another big year for Ms Rawnsley-Galistan.

On January 20 she headlines a half day workshop at the Powerhouse Discovery Centre at Castle Hill.

The workshop will teach young artists simple ways to sketch, create story boards and develop their own cartoon strips.

Bookings are limited and places are filling up fast. Call the Discovery Centre on 9672 1300.
