LMA gets political at Eid Al-Adha : الجمعية الإسلامية اللبنانية تتعاطى السياسة في عيد الأضحى

هاجمت الجمعية الإسلامية اللبنانية مسوّدة خطة ضبط التطوير العمراني التي
وضعها مجلس مدينة كنتربري والتي تفرض تقييدات على أماكن العبادة في المناطق السكنية ضمن نطاق عمل المجلس.
وقد أدّت الخطة “القمعية” برئيس الجمعية سمير دندن إلى أن يعلن أنه لا يمكن الاستخفاف بالمسلمين ونحن مقبلون على انتخابات في 11 آذار/مارس.
وقال السيد دندن: “إن ما هو مقترح ليس من العدل في شيء، وليس فيه من القيم الأسترالية شيء”.
غير أن عضو مجلس بلدية كنتربري كارل صالح ردّ على تصريحات السيد دندن التي جاءت خلال احتفالات عيد الأضحى الأخيرة يوم الثلاثاء الفائت، فقال إن المناسبة الدينية فرصة للتناغم والاحترام وليس لتعاطي السياسة.
وقال: “بكل بساطة، إنها رسالة غير مناسبة قيلت في مكان غير مناسب وفي وقت غير مناسب”.
وقال عضو المجلس صالح إنه تم اقتراح تعديل للخطة خلال اجتماع لجنة التطوير المديني للمجلس يوم 11 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر لإضافة نقطة أخرى إلى الخطة لضمان تلبية الاحتياجات الدينية للمجتمع.
وقال بأن التعديل الذي نال دعم رئيس المجلس روبرت فيورولو ألغى ساعات العمل المقترحة من الخطة.
وأضاف عضو المجلس صالح: “لقد كانت هذه النتيجة الصحيحة”.
وكان ألوف المسلمين من كل أنحاء سيدني تقاطروا إلى المساجد المحلية للاحتفال بعيد الأضحى الذي يتزامن مع الحج السنوي في مكة. وقد أقيمت صلاة العيد الصباحية في مراكز دينية في عدة ضواحي مختلفة منها لاكمبا وكنغزغروف وبانشبول ووايلي بارك.
وقال عضو المجلس صالح الذي أدّى صلاة العيد في مصلّى بانشبول إن الاحتفال بمناسبة العيد بدأ بالصلاة وتلاها عدة خطب ألقى هو إحداها.
وقال: “خلال الاحتفال أرسلنا تمنياتنا لحجاج سيدني في مكة بكل خير وبعودتهم سالمين.”
وقد أطلقت شرطة كامبسي عملية “تاتا” يوم العيد للمساعدة في تخفيف ازدحام المرور والمشاة حول مسجدَي لاكمبا وكنغزغروف.

The ``repressive’’ plan prompted association president Samier Dandan to declare that Muslims could not be taken for granted ahead of the March 2011 election.

``What is being proposed is not fair, and it’s un-Australian,’’ Mr Dandan said.

But Canterbury councillor Karl Saleh hit back at Mr Dandan’s comments, which were made during the recent Eid Al-Adha celebrations last Tuesday saying the religious observance was a time for harmony and respect, not politics.

``Simply it’s the wrong message, in the wrong place, at the wrong time,’’ he said.

Cr Saleh said an amendment to the plan had been moved at the council’s city development committee meeting on November 11 to include a further point in the plan to ensure the religious needs of the community were accommodated.

Cr Saleh said the amendment, which was supported by Mayor Robert Furolo, deleted the proposed hours of operation from the plan.

``It’s the right result,’’ Cr Saleh said.

Thousands of Muslims from across Sydney flocked to local mosques to mark Eid Al-Adha, which takes place during the annual hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

Special morning prayers were held at religious centres in various suburbs including Lakemba, Kingsgrove, Punchbowl and Wiley Park.

Cr Saleh, who attended a morning service at Punchbowl musallah, said the day was observed with prayers followed by a several speeches, including one of his own.

``We wished the pilgrims from Sydney on Mecca all the best and for their safe return.’‘

Campsie police launched Operation Tata on the day to help ease traffic and pedestrian congestion around Lakemba and Kingsgrove mosques.
