Husky owners are expected in droves for a full day of fun and entertainment.

THE Siberian Husky Club will hold its annual picnic in the park later this month at the Nurragingy Reserve.

Formerly held in Parramatta Park, the event is now in its fourth year at the Doonside nature reserve and attracts dog lovers from right across western Sydney.

Husky owners are expected in droves for a full day of fun and entertainment.

Aside from mixing it with other owners participants will be taking part in a series of competitions from T-shirt and 11-legged races, biscuit tossing, bobbing, best trick, most vocal dog, blindfolded owner and even a baldest Siberian event before a grand parade of dogs and owners.

The picnic in the park is run by the Siberian Husky Club of NSW (Australia) and encourages responsible pet ownership for pure-bred huskies.

A picnic in the park spokeswoman told the Advocate the event also promotes interest in breeding, upkeep, training and general well-being and improvement of the breed.

* The event gets under way on Saturday, October 23 in the eucalyptus area of Nurragingy Reserve from 10am.
