POLICE have cordoned off Lloyd Street in Enoggera to investigate a suspicious package found near the army barracks at around 2pm.
A specialist bomb squad and robot are investigating the silver package to ascertain whether it was a bomb that was left near the gates leading in to the barracks.
Inspector Sean Cryer said residents of Lloyd Street had been asked to stay indoors until the situation was resolved.
Police have advised motorists and members of the public to find an alternative route.
